Real Steel Weaponology:
SR-25K "Widowmaker" Carbine
The source material for the CA-25 URX is the SR-25K. Produced by Knights Armament and designed by Eugene Stoner, the creator of the M16 (Armalite AR-15). The SR-25 its self is loosely based off of (and shares parts in common with) the AR-10, another gun of Stoner's design, .
The SR-25 was designed as a long range, accurate weapon system that fired the high energy 7.62x51 NATO round. With the expectation that these guns would be used in a sniper role, some variants do not have iron sights, although this is not the case with the carbine length that the URX is modeled after. All models, however ,feature Weaver/Picatinny rails that run the top length of the gun to support optics.
Operationally, the SR-25 has made it was into many urban and special forces units in the US and around the world. With a bolt action rifle for a sniper mission, an operator may need to carry as many as three weapons: an M9 side-arm, an M16, and their primary weapon for the sniper mission. Using an SR-25, sniper units have been able to reduce their load-out by dropping the M16, as the SR-25 is well suited as a defensive weapon.
Operators have also noted that the SR-25s profile (to the untrained eye) looks like that of an M16. This allows sniper teams to move to positions in urban areas while looking like standard units.
Airsoft Gun info:
The CA-25 URX is a very high quality full metal Airsoft build of the SR-25K. As such, the receiver and gearbox are slightly larger than its AR15/M16 counterparts. It features a collapsible stock that accommodates a crane style battery. Along the top of the CA-25 is a primary rail that runs the length of the gun for easy optics mounting, with the RIS unit circling the barrel provides an additional 3 rails. If you have a full loadout of accessories, mounting them will not be an issue. Rail covers are also included in the package to prevent your gear from snagging on the unused rails, and for comfort when using them for grip.
Like its real steel counterpart, the CA-25's build is known for its range, accuracy, and power. It is also highly upgradable. This is due to the extended piston size of the CA-25's gear box. All of this is made even more versatile in an adjustable stock package with the URX.
